Peace Lily
Spathiphyllum wallisii
Easy-going and forgiving, a lovely one to live with.
- Light. Easygoing about light, and happy in a shadier spot out of any direct sun.
- Water. Likes a drink once the top inch of soil has dried out.
- Humidity. Loves a humid, steamy spot; a bright bathroom or a pebble tray keeps him glowing.
- Soil. Pot him in a regular, well-draining houseplant mix.
- Growth. A steady, well-mannered grower.
Best kept up high, out of reach of pets and children who like to nibble.
Tolerates low light but prefers medium indirect. Water when the top inch of soil dries out and leaves begin to droop slightly. Loves humidity, so bathrooms and kitchens suit it well. Toxic to cats and dogs. A great pick for beginners.
